Johnny 5 (originally called "S-A-I-N-T Prototype Number 5") is the fictional robotic star of the movies Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 and a TV special called Hot Cars, Cold Facts.

He was used during the original Short Circuit production before the studio placed him in storage. The studio reused some of the original robots during the sequel, but not this one. Apart from minor restoration on his head, he remains as he was following the end of filming. He has marks and scratches but is complete.

To celebrate Short Circuit's 30th anniversary this year, we recently caught up with Eric Allard, the robotics effects wizard who not only came up with the look of Number 5, aka Johnny 5, but also made sure that his mechanized creations would integrate seamlessly into the production of Badham's heartwarming comedy.
